this is not procrastination

its now 10.30am. i planned to be at the library by 9 AT THE LATEST.
the reason for the delay? its new zealand fashion week at the moment. so my mornings are spent catching up on blog posts and photo shoots of the new designers/collections that are emerging..then wondering how i can transfer my existing wardrobe into some of these gorgeous outfits..then deciding i need to go shopping..then realising i will never be able to keep putting new things in my closet if i don't pass school and get a job..time for the library.

but before i go, here are some pictures from the runway courtesy of always-sometimes-anytime

with time to get creative

how i love lazy sundays.
please exclude the part where i woke at 5.45am, completed a timed long run (10.5miles in 64mins), stretched, ice bathed and ate breakfast all by 9.30am.
the real lazy sunday started after that...90mins of napping, wholefoods, baking, eating and lying about the floor watching telly.

todays kitchen endeavors: making sunflower seed butter and homemade burger buns
roasted sunflower seeds...blended...
this is the most simple, cheap ($1.60 for a jar of sunflower butter!) and yummy recipe
i found this on Mama Peas website..go check out her other great recipes!
sunflower butter made, it was time to make some burger buns...knead, rise and bake..
add homemade chutney (thanks mum), black bean patties, tomato and spinach..and you have dinner
hope you all got to enjoy a lazy sunday too
xx

acclimation

for the past few weeks i have skyped home to see snow falling in the background and warm fires burning in living room with my cat lounging out in front of it..escaping from the cold that awaits the minute you open the outside door..drinking hot tea and sipping on soup..my parents no longer lounge in our outside chairs, instead they are occupied by snowmen..
on my end of skype, the sky is blue, the grass is green..we come inside to air conditioning to escape the heat that envelopes you every time you step outside the door..running in 43degree (109 fahrenheit) heat..leading to us spending our days just trying to stay hydrated..
the thought of going snow boarding right now is mind boggling..the thought of eating a warm roast dinner not at all appetizing (until december)..the thought of hot chocolates, beanies, mittens and woolen socks makes me sweat..
rug up warm in nz for now, when the sun starts shining again and the beach calls..i will be wrapped in my winter coat to protect me from the bitter cold..

"rise and shine, now is the time to be alive"
a cute song, a cute video, cute lyrics..listen in

out of service

soon after arriving into tulsa for the fall semester we departed for our team building trip to Tahlequah..the trip mainly involved playing pranks on the freshmen..the usual initiation antics (im thankful i transferred and never had the 'freshmen' status working against me)..running, eating, napping, floating the river and having a merry old time..
it was nice being near the water again, bathing in the river after our runs and getting off road on some hilly dirt trails...it was also nice winning twister..stretching and yoga was the winner on the day..and being the overall winner i also got a container of chocolate and lollies..just what the pudge needs!
it was really great being away from technology, with out cellphone reception, laptops, tv's and the likes the team actually spent time 'getting to know each other'..rather than via facebook..a past time that tends to be lost these days..
all sharing bunk rooms..don't worry it was one for the guys, one for the girls..we got to know each other pretty quick!
thanks to all the freshmen for being good sports and providing us with laughter for the 3 days..and putting up with our crap for 3 days..i look forward to my last semester!

i look forward to the next time i pack up
until i see you next, much love xx

south of america

i would love to go to south america..but thats a trip for future vacations..we spent the last two nights of our florida vacation at the southern most point of america..Key West..where the beach is golden, the grass is green, the food is amazing, the bars are unique and the seas are free of sharks (well at least where we went snorkeling)...
welcome to key west..mile zero
our home quarters for the two nights..this was the cutest little house..bedroom in the loft with a balcony over looking the island..filled with quirky key west art and air conditioning (thankgod!)

the southern most point of america
the most pure of waters..this is at the small beach in the state park..great place to go for a wee bike around!
dinner the first night was enjoyed at one of the best restaurants we have been to at late..The Flaming Buoy Filet Co..the food was incredible, portion sizes overly generous and atmosphere an A+..i would recommend this to anyone making a trip down south
midday of day two we took a (party) boat out to a reef to do some snorkeling..we saw heaps of beautiful tropical fish..my favourite was the parrot fish i watched munching on the coral..i also enjoyed the free booze provided on the boat ride home..nothing beats the surprise of free beer when you least expect it!
bar hopping by night took us to some of the famous bars in key west..our favourite spot was Captain Tony's bar..the original sloppy joe's..this is the first place that jimmy buffet played before being launched into the lime light..there is a heap of memorabilia on the walls that you can read whilst enjoying a bevy!
