pedal power

two wheels are better than four..oh and better than one..me on a uni cycle would be ridiculous!the most necessary birthday gift was this new toy that pj surprised me with on sunday..no better way to get around the beaches and all my desired destinations..whilst saving petrol..not polluting the atmosphere..and getting extra fit..cause i don't already run enough..

wednesday this week was my first beach day this summer..it was an awsome day..right up there on the 1-10 scale at an 11..after exercising in the a.m i biked to pacific beach to have lunch with pj..then biked home to ocean beach again to study for the looming GRE exam (this part wasn't quite as awsome)..but then soon enough it was market time..

fresh green goodness to add to the fridge!

the evening was capped off with some surfing and a picnic on the beach with the Belshin family in Del Mar..as in surfing i mean i 'watched' the guys surf..that counts right!?

lets hope the sun comes out next week so we can do this all over again

patience

the ability to stand long periods of being at a place you rather would like to leave

this week i have been doing a bit of driving..well actually a lot of driving..which explains my lack of updates..also loosing my camera at the drake track adds to the predicament..lets sure hope who-ever took it enjoys my photos :)

im currently playing the waiting game at denver airport..8 hours til my flight back to my second home..san diego!last summer was pretty epic..buying a car and driving across the states..climbing mountains..meeting so many amazing people..vegas..california..every national park imaginable..it is one that will definitely be hard to match..but i love a good challenge..

thankyou to everyone for the support leading up to nationals..a great race but i didnt have the legs in the last two laps to keep up with the milers!also cheers for the birthday wishes..i plan to celebrate in style..more than once..round two goes down upon arrival to san diego..let the fun begin.
much love xx

snapshot

my memories of iowa include rain..overcast, dreary weather..concrete..plain boring buildings..oh and a school record..thats one thing to keep the impression of des moines up!
but first impressions can change..and des moines has put on a great show (thus far) of 90+ degree days..blue skies..green grass..lakes..and rolling hills to do just that..we are staying out west by the country club..where the houses are unique..the streets are well kept..and the sun shines (at least for now)..the days have not been hard to fill..here is a taste of the life we are living pre NCAA nationals..

me and chris headed out for a morning run around the neighborhoods..post run sweaty mess..
...followed by some bonding with my room mate..the foam roller..we have been inseparable these past 3 weeks..thanks ash for accidentally leaving this behind!
due to forecasted thunderstorms the next three days i made wandering amongst the greenery a must..
then mid-afternoon rolled around and we headed for a light session at a local high school track..
..super juiced and hydrated..it was noodle zoo time..a little cafe just across the street from our hotel..plenty of colour to top of the beautiful day!

life can be a fairy tale

kt just got me on to this blog..bohemian musings..which is full of soft shades and imaginary things.which i love.this is one of many quotes that are worth remembering.
"no one really knows if there is a sense to life, but i think that maybe it is just for us to experience it"

my heart is full to the brim with missing the people i love.11 days.

kt...you want to come play in the waves with me?
i miss you.x

what you plant now will harvest later

my parents are back in nz now after a month of traveling around the states, taking way too many photos, drinking maybe just a touch to much wine, watching their little girl carve up and having a blast (oh and meeting some pretty damn cool people :)
its a strange feeling, going from one time zone to another..they are 17hours ahead in nz, so going home they miss a day in flight..maybe this means they are a day younger now!?..its a long haul back but now that they are adjusted to nz life again and they have had time to sort through the THOUSANDS of photos they took, i get to see some of the pictures from conference and regionals..it was my second time running at the prestigious Hayward Field in Eugene, making my first appearance there for nationals last year..the crowd and support for athletics there is unreal..if you ever get a chance its an awsome place to race!

the pace quickens..the pack spreads out..hello facials..

the hard work is done..now its time to see it flourish..
we head out tomorrow to des moines, iowa for nationals..one week to go!
